With a further increase in efforts to complete her PhD, Esther elected to compete just once this season - as part of Muffin Motorsport driving for the all-female Blueberry Tarts team in the Classic 2CV Racing Club 24 hour race at Snetterton in August.
After an enjoyable test day at Oulton Park learning the ropes with Chris and Maria, Esther met up with team mates Shirley and Jess for the event. Despite a couple of hiccups along the way, the girls ran well. Shirley and Jess ran personal best laptimes whilst Esther impressed on her debut with a sub 2 minute lap, set despite a failing rear hub! That hub would eventually break away in the dying moments of the race, stranding Shirley on track, but they still classified 16th in a competitive showing.
When not racing herself, Esther was a valuable member of the pit crew for the Club Enduro, including taking over on Comms for the final two events. Can’t be many people with Tourette’s with a headset on the pitwall! She also continued to contribute to educational programs including RS Stemfest and Wilberforce College’s Girl’s Into Engineering event.
