At PDC we have our families and friends to thank for much of our success.
Their support has grown during these difficult times so to relieve the pressure (and encourage them into the fray) we thought we would include them in the fun. What better than a sim race :)
For those available we hosted a Relatives / Partners / Friends race today. Those close to us were encouraged to race, the mics were turned on, the engines were fired up and we had some great fun.
The Randomly generated grid lined up as below.
Pole - Alex Knox
2nd - Jess Henson
3rd - Jake Wood
4th - Louise Handley
5th - Claire Palser
6th - Jessica Wise
7th - Leigh Vaughan
8th - Esther Quaintmere
9th - Alex Hall
The race could have gone many ways but Jake Wood was not to be denied at Tsukuba.
Wood and Alex Knox set off like hares and gapped the whole field after Lap 1.
Knox led until lap 4 when the pressure told, a mistake at the final turn let Wood through and he never looked back, Knox a credible 2nd place with the fastest lap of the race
Driver of the race was Jess Henson, early contact from several cars saw her off the track and shuffled down the order, she fought back in impressive style to take the 3rd spot on the podium. This double overtake a particular highlight as she flew past Palser and Morton.
Jessica Wise and Esther Quaintmere were unfortunate to be involved in a number of incidents, the latter driving well to recover up to 5th.
Outside of the top 3 there were battles raging and every place was up for grabs. The final standings are below.
1 Jake Wood
2 Alex Knox
3 Jess Henson
4 Mrs Morton
5 Esther Quaintmere
6 Claire Palser
7 Jessica Wise
8 Alex Hall
= Leigh Vaughan - DQ
Notable mentions to Leigh Vaughan as the only person to be disqualified in a non disqualification race, Mrs Morton who was a late entry ( a great performance to take 4th) and to Alex Hall who entered the race by accident, realising it wasn’t Harewood Hillclimb as the lights went out.
If any friends or family of racers want to join in next time just get in touch.
