Everyone has heard of PUMA.
But did you know about their diverse and progressive past that led them to the front row of a Formula 1 grid?
Did you know the Dasslers founded the company? Rudolf Dassler took the brand forward releasing its first football boot, the Atom in 1950. Pele wore PUMA from 1962, Eusebio in 1966. In 1972 PUMA partnered Mary Peters as she won gold medal at the Olympic Games in Munich.
Martina Navrátilová, wore PUMA from 1984 to 1987. All in all she won the Grand Slam six times, Wimbledon nine times and was awarded WTA Athlete of the year seven times. Together with Guillermo Vilas and Boris Becker, the trio helps PUMA to get one of the most popular brands for Tennis.
In 1986 the controversial Diego Maradonna wore Puma Kings to score the goal of the century in a world cup semi final later winning the Golden Ball as the tournaments best player.
Linford Christie wore PUMA, does anyone remember his contact lenses?
Then in 1998 (noting we havent fully covered all of their fast stars) PUMA started to look at Motorsport, and Formula 1. The Fireproof Speedcat was developed for Formula 1 drivers, later becoming main stream fashion and performance on the high street in 2001. Remaining an icon today.
PUMA find a way to succeed.
Since 2005 PUMA have been with Scuderia Ferrari, PUMA backed Usain Bolt from 2008, then came Red Bull and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport within Formula One, BMW Motorsport in DTM, IMSA, WEC and Formula E, and Team Penske in NASCAR and IndyCar.
PUMA have always been progressive and support Motorsport teams and drivers to become #foreverfaster.
